Lies That Bleed by Leia Stone had me hooked into its world immediately.

It somehow managed to be swiftly immersive and avoided the kind of slow start that takes a few chapters to really generate interest which I loved about it. As a book that leans on the shorter side, this is imperative and well done, so that I felt as if I no longer had a choice between putting it down or continuing.

Her Dark Salvation by Katelyn Brehm is a compelling start to a new series with fresh and fun takes on my favourite tropes

Her Dark Salvation is a mafia romance, which I adore, but it’s a paranormal mafia romance!? Maybe I’m missing out on this particular genre, but this is my first and I loved it. Vampire-like demons combined with mafia? Sign me the heck up.

Pepper Winters does not disappoint with Sapphire Scars

Sapphire Scars by Pepper Winters begins right where Emerald Bruises left off – in a moment of high tension. I was immediately sucked into this world because I have been eagerly anticipating the third book to find out what would happen.

The Fiancé Dilemma by Elena Armas was a very cute rom-com that had me laughing and swooning over the main characters.

Josie was a quirky, hilarious, seemingly having it together yet also a certified mess of a character. I loved her. Although she owns her own business, a coffee shop, and is the (volunteer) mayor of her little town, she is not so together as far as her personal life goes.

The Nature of Disappearing by Kimi Cunningham Grant was a slow burn that really surprised me with how it hooked me in.

I really didn’t know how this book was going to turn out for me initially. It has a slower build up without inundating the reader with unnecessary set up, but the slow, yet steady pace really works for the story. It manages not to spend too long on the pre-story before the point of the plot begins, and yet manages to give the reader the necessary backstory to really connect with characters and understand the relationships.
