Nevermore by Miranda Lyn is the second book in a series of standalones that takes off running and never really stops – in the best way.

There was so much to love about Nevermore, from the plot which was full of action and fantastic character interaction which made for a deeply immersive read. There was plenty of tension between the secret identities, high stakes heists, and of course, between the characters themselves, which were some of the things I loved the most.

The characters were impossible not to love. From the main ones to the side characters, it didn’t matter because they were all so fully fleshed and I couldn’t get enough of them being on the pages. Paesha is such a strong female lead, she has a difficult past that has shaped her into the strong-willed woman she is, full of independence and sass, and an envious ability to stand up for herself and not be bullied into anything she isn’t willing to do. Then there is Thorne who comes across as this hardened, brutish man, no nonsense man, but he reveals his tenderness and caring in rare moments that make him incredibly swoonworthy and so incredibly likeable. There are so many other characters besides that I couldn’t help but love immensely, from Archer the jokester, to Harlow, another tough woman who fights for those who can’t fight for themselves.

The world is another incredible aspect to this story. The Gods, the magic, and the multiple worlds are so fascinating that I was completely hooked into the universe and just wanted more of it all. The way things ended has me desperate for more; more of the world, more of the characters, more of the magic, everything. I cannot wait for Evermore to release and highly recommend this read.
