Odessa, the main character from which the story is being told ended up being someone I really loved immediately. She is the castoff princess, feeling as if she has no place with her family and her people, like she is unnecessary and unnoticed, with no real use to anyone.
I must say, this book took me a hot minute to get into because I wasn’t immediately sure how I felt about it and had to take a step back from it as a result. However, this said, once I gave it another chance, I was surprised by how deeply it grabbed my attention.
As is typical from Carley Fortune, this book possesses such real, vivid characters that the reader can’t help but love and see something in that is so true to life and the every day struggles that come with life.
