From the first book in this series, I’ve been hooked into Eddie Flynn’s story and it’s a testament to how good it is that it just seems to improve with every entry.
Perhaps the most surprising part to me is that it has only gotten better as Eddie has added to his merry band of outcasts. The new characters have only added to the enjoyment of the story, and each have their endearing little quirks that makes for entertaining reading and bring their own strengths to Eddie’s law practice as he sometimes goes around the law in a rather backwards way to find answers to prove his clients’ innocence. Meanwhile Harry and Kate balance the questionable practices of the others as either current or previous practitioners of the law which is at times necessary.
I love how swiftly and smartly these stories come together. With little pieces scattered throughout here and there that add up to the story that Eddie and his team put together, the story comes together swiftly and yet packs a punch. The side plot involving Eddie’s family adds a note of tension to this story beyond that of the race to prove their client innocent and was a testament to the diabolical and nefarious intelligence of the criminal responsible.
The conclusion was satisfying and yet again, this installment ended up being a hit. I’m very much looking forward to the next one because at this point I can’t get enough of these books.
