There are two very different, and yet potentially tied together, cases going on that the PAR are trying to solve that keep things interesting from start to finish of this book.
Gardner proves himself yet again to be highly intelligent, if a bit out of his element when it comes to people, and I loved getting to see into his mind again. The way he connects the dots is so fascinating and a testament to his intelligence that really made me enjoy his POV throughout this book. The rest of the PAR members are an equally quirky band of quick thinkers that make for not a dull moment whenever the group is interacting and really makes each member stand out for themselves.
As previously stated, there are two cases ongoing throughout Inside Man. One involves mysterious gun shipments and the threatening potential they could have in the wrong hands, while the other involves the hunt for a serial killer who has a horrifying body count. Both cases were diverse enough to be equally diverting so that when one was focused on over the other it didn’t make for a slog waiting to get back a more interesting part of the story. I wanted to find out the end game for both cases and to see how they could possibly be related if this ended up being the correct conclusion as they were so difficult to tie together.
I am honestly so pleasantly surprised by how much I’ve come to enjoy this series of books because, although it might take me a minute to get into them, once I do I become so hooked into the story that I need to see it through to the end. This typically makes for a quick finish of the book for me as I end up blasting through it and this second one was no exception. I find myself very much looking forward to the next book in the series.
